Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"The food was good and the portions large. Seems a good local Romanian food experience, as it is a small venue, seems to be locally owned. The servers were friendly and helpful! I ordered the Roata platter and even after the servers suggested halving the serving for one person, it was still too much for my usually robust appetite. For dessert I ordered the Clǎtite cu Înghetată (crepes and ice cream) to much appreciation: very flavorful and well designed."
"Authentic and delicious, definitely eat here! A rare 5 star review from me (see my other reviews). Visited October 2025. The food was good enough that we ate dinner each of the only two nights we were in town. The cabbage rolls were divine, cooked perfectly and served piping hot with lots of flavor. The platter of mixed meats, cheeses, pickled vegetables and sauce was over the top delicious and was easily enough food for at least 4 persons. The bread bowl with beans was outstanding with a heartiness belying it's humble ingredients (also a vegetarian delight). During our second visit, the house made sausages were excellent with golden potatoes seasoned perfectly. There are enough menu selections for most tastes including several vegetarian options. The house wine is price fairly and is excellent at the price point. The staff is kind, courteous and attentive without being overbearing. Reservations highly recommended (staff speaks english)."
"Food was delicious and of great quality. The staff was so lovely and attentive. We were also given a delicious courtesy drink. We recommend the wild mushrooms stew, it was wholesome and rich in flavour. The place was very cozy and comforting. Would totally come back!"
"This is a solid option for traditional dining. The location stands out because you're close to the central park and city center which is well connected to everything important in the city via all major public transport routes. They focus on classic, traditional cuisine, and the dishes I tried were certainly tasty and well-prepared. It’s a reliable spot if you want traditional food in a traditional setting."
"The restaurant is beautiful and the food is very tasty. We took the Transylvania plate, Roata hot plate and 2 beef soup. For dessert- Papanash. For 6 people it was more than enough We also got the special liquor of the restaurant to try and it was great. We didn’t need to reserve a table in advance. One thing for improvement- it took too long until the food arrived (still think that the service itself was good)."
"Excellent experience! The tripe soup was absolutely delicious, authentic and full of flavor. Great service, warm atmosphere, and very good value for money. Highly recommended!"
"Absolutely wonderful experience at Roata! The stuffed cabbage was divine – one of the best I've ever had. We were welcomed with a traditional pálinka, which was a lovely touch. The service was attentive, and the authentic atmosphere made the whole evening unforgettable. A true taste of tradition in a cozy and rustic setting. Highly recommended!"
"Lovely Romanian restaurant in the beautiful city of Cluj-Napoca. The food was tasty; good value for the price. The waitress served 2 shots on the house. Service is great; I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!"
